Skincare represents the largest—and one of the fastest-growing—sectors within the beauty industry. A 2022 report found that 71% of adults identify as having some degree of skin sensitivity, marking a notable increase over the past two decades. In response, the global market for sensitive skincare products continues to expand, with estimates projecting growth from approximately $12 million in 2024 to nearly $20 million by 2032, reflecting a strong compound annual growth rate of 7.9%.

As the category evolves, consumers are increasingly seeking solutions tailored to individual triggers and sensitivities, rather than relying on broad “for sensitive skin” claims. Many leading sensitive‑skin skincare brands highlight clinical or scientific credibility in their branding, such as dermatologist endorsements, clinical testing, and scientific explanations of ingredients — which can feel unfriendly rather than approachable.

This project explores the creation of a beauty brand designed to support a wide range of sensitive skin needs without relying on medicalized language or clinical framing. The objective is to deliver a light yet empowering e-commerce experience through an approachable and uplifting brand identity, while still prioritizing quality ingredients and personalized formulations. By offering a more lifestyle-focused, engaging experience—similar to other leading beauty brands—Radiant Blend aims to differentiate itself in the growing sensitive-skin skincare market.

COMPETITIVE AUDIT
The final step of the research process involved conducting a competitive audit. Since the final product is an e-commerce site with a relatively straightforward user flow, my competitive audit focused primarily on visual and branding elements, examining how competitors communicate trust, differentiate their products, and create engaging user experiences.

During the design phase, I focused on establishing a clear brand foundation and flexible layout system for both web and iOS designs. In my early explorations I decided on a warm, approachable color palette—orange, green, and beige—to convey freshness, energy, and groundedness, alongside a simple, modern logo designed to scale across digital experiences and product packaging.

This project deepened my understanding of how to create a cohesive visual and brand system that can scale seamlessly across both digital and physical touchpoints, reinforcing the importance of consistency, flexibility and clarity. With a relatively simple user flow centered on a single home page, I was challenged to think more critically about engagement, using interactive UI elements such as accordions, carousels, and button hover states to add visual interest while serving functional purposes. Techniques like masking in the hero section further enhance visual expressions, resulting in a playful interface that reflects the brand’s personality while supporting a thoughtful shopping experience.
